Microsoft Case Study 
PDW combines SQL Server database technology, low-cost hardware appliances and a hub-and-spoke design to deliver a massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture capable of providing extremely fast, highly scalable systems for managing hundreds of terabytes of data.
